Meet Jay.

Jay Michael Rivera is a high school English teacher based in Stockton, California. A former newspaper reporter, columnist, and editor, he writes journalism, essays, and fiction inspired by people, places, and community.

From the Author:

If the microscopic crew from the 60s sci-fi film Fantastic Voyage could explore the folds of my brain, I'm certain there would be a well-lit, caffeinated section where minions stuff colorful, plastic word cutouts into pneumatic tubes.

It seems my writer's mind is always on and churning out one word after another, whether I'm working on a communications plan, press release, blurb, article, or story. And when my hands are away from the keyboard, I'm revising lesson plans, helping students discover their own voices, or jotting down ideas for whatever comes next.

Jay describes himself as an "Erstwhile communications professional turned high school English teacher with newsprint-stained hands; Dad, Army vet, writer, gardener, French press devotee, Scandinavian crime fiction lover, lifelong learner, dabbler, and fluent in self-deprecating humor and irony."
